Do not provide any information to forensic lipreaders about the possible words used (even if contested) at an initial stage, or indeed any details about the case. Lipreading is a difficult skill, and you may find that you have, by providing this information, tainted the evidence which the lipreader(s) might provide.

Once the lipreaders have provided you with a transcript on the basis of the CCTV evidence alone, you may find it appropriate to provide additional information to them to consider (which might include for example a prosecution lipreader’s report, details of the charges, words that have been alleged to have been used etc) so that they can provide a supplementary report.

If lipreading evidence on videotape or DVD is to be posted to a lipreader, it is recommended you send it by recorded delivery.
